Collection of Contemporary Fine Art Fame

During my childhood there was nothing more fascinating than collecting cards of famous Mexican wrestling figures. I loved them because they were my heroes and also because there was something compelling about making the album full and with this also becoming a hero for my friends. Since 2002, when I started my artist life, I have met many people who share the same passion and same childhood impulse, so I figured out that there are heroes of all ages, in all social spheres, including the art world.

Therefore, I created the project ‘Collection of Contemporary Fine Art Fame’ as an interactive art work of 306 trading with portraits of the most “famous” artists in the contemporary fine art world. The cards can be sorted in an album exclusively designed for this project. A unique portrait of the artist is printed on every card, along with a unique code and biographical information. The cards are printed on paper and sized 6 x 9 cm.

Every card has been printed in a different number (between 50 and 1000), which means that at the end there are only 50 possible complete collections. Five cards are included in each envelope for sale.

The goal of the project is to give a wider range of people the opportunity to have an art work in their hands which is in a way associated with the ‘heroes’ of modern art and also be able to negotiate its value, by buying it, collecting it or exchanging it.
